We are excited to welcome our grade 9 students for our annual Orientation Day on August 30th, 2023 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Eastside Secondary School
The day will include a set of fun activities for students to get to know each other, meet their mentors and learn about high school. For the second year, Eastside Secondary will be participating in the Link Crew Program that intends to help new grade nines feel more comfortable in their new school so they are best prepared for success in the first year in high school. The Link Crew grade nine orientation and transition program is designed to both welcome and support grade nines by assigning them a senior student Link Leader as a mentor during their first year. The Link Leader is a responsible older student who was hand selected from a large pool of applicants and has met the qualifications of being a good role model and positive leader at our school.
Here's what students can expect at our orientation day.
-
A day before the orientation, students will receive a phone call from their Link Crew Leader personally inviting them to the orientation day and giving details of where to be and what time. They will be using the contact information available in our student information system. (If your information has changed, please call the school)
- Students are encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses, or other items as the day is quite active.
- We also recommend that students wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement
- Lunch will be provided.
This is a student focused function so we encourage students to attend on their own. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the main office at 613-962-8668 or via email Mary Hutchinson ([email protected]).
